Read on 15 August 2026 from the Practice Plus Group price list, Benenden Hospital's self-pay prices and the Spire Manchester varicose vein page. Where a cell says a procedure is not published separately, that provider did not list it under that name on the day we read it, not that they do not offer it.
Why the same procedure costs so differently
- The price basis is not the same thing. Practice Plus Group publishes a fixed price it states is what you pay. Benenden publishes a guide price it defines as an indication of the minimum you may incur. Spire publishes a minimum from price and a larger total package.
- Setting. Some of these procedures are done in a clinic room under local anaesthetic and some in a theatre, and the published prices reflect that.
- Number of veins and legs. Practice Plus Group publishes separate figures for minor, intermediate and major vein injections at £399, £699 and £899, which shows how granular this pricing gets.
- Repeat sessions. NICE advises telling patients that new varicose veins may develop after treatment and that they may need more than one session, so a single procedure price is not necessarily the total you spend.
Before you compare two vein quotes
- Check whether the figure is per leg or for both legs. This is where most confusion starts.
- Check whether the duplex ultrasound scan is included, since NICE says the scan is what confirms the diagnosis and plans the treatment.
- Check whether follow-up and any second session are included, or charged again.
- Check whether compression stockings are included, and for how long they are advised.
This page compares published prices. It does not say which procedure you should have. NICE sets an order of preference for clinicians, and matching it to your veins is a job for a vascular specialist after a scan.
